Weenie Roast is Here (And my birthday)

It’s hard to believe that it’s time for another KROQ Weenie Rosat.  12 great bands at Verizon Wireless AMP in Irvine.  I think I’m most excited to see The Strokes. I love the new album as much as the first three. I’m also curious to see what the boys from Linkin Park are going to do.

If I had any other job in the world, I may complain for 5 minutes that I have to work on my birthday.  Weenie Roast and The KROQ Almost Acoustic are my two favorite dates of the year so I do NOT mind for one second that I will be “Working” on June 4th.  I am the luckiest guy to be able to have this gig.

If there is some sort of a spanking machine, I’m in. shots? I’m in. High Fives? Maybe. Low Fives? Yes! See you Saturday.

Dear The Strokes, Looking for YOU

I have been so lucky and fortunate over the years to meet and interview bands i really like.

One of those bands is The Strokes.  I was just on youtube watching the video for Taken for a Fool and I got the urge to write this blog. They are such a GREAT band.  The songs, the style, the music, the lyrics and the way they shoot and produce their videos is exactly what tickles my fancy.

I have a couple great memories when it comes to me and Julian.  I’ll share one here in my blog.  I think the year was 2006 and they were playing a small show at House of Blues Hollywood.  I believe American Express threw a huge party and The Strokes were the band.

Anyways, after the show and after many drinks, I found myself talking to Julian upstairs just outside the foundation room.  We talked for maybe 15 minutes or more about music, radio, TV, the world, and life.  That was one of those “Holy Fuck” moments.  Would he remember that night? I’d say 94% no, which is fine with me because I 100% remember.

The next time I saw Julian was in the KROQ studio about a year after that.  We played some Strokes songs for the first time and had a really fun time on the radio.  It bums me out a bit that I have not seen them play in a while.

I would love to do another interview with them and BS about all things music, life and lyrics.  OK, thats all I got on The Strokes.

See what happens when you watch a really great video from one of your favorite bands?
